The extensive experience in bridge design and construction can be seen through the numerous projects completed throughout the years. The durability, cost effectiveness and low maintenance benefits, have made precast the dominant structural material for short to medium span bridges. Long span bridges also benefit from the inherent qualities of precast concrete by combining post-tensioning with girder splicing.
Many recent successful projects have utilized design build and value engineering methods to ensure the optimal bridge solution was obtained. As the prime manufacturer of precast concrete bridge beams, Con-Force has recognized its responsibility to assist professionals by providing data for readily available sections. A variety of sections/solutions are available to fulfill specific project requirements. The design of prestressed concrete bridges is covered by CSA Standard CAN/CSA-S6-06 Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code specifications.
Con-Force introduced the NU Girder to Canada in 1999 and has assisted to progress the development of girders up to 2800 deep and to date, a length of 64.5m. The problems associated with handling, storage, transportation and erection of deep, slender girders have been resolved by the Con-Force in-house Engineering / Erection departments.
Besides the NU girder, Con-Force also manufactures Trapezoidal Girders, I-Girders and Box Girders. If your individual project requires unique aesthetics, schedule, span or load requirements, Con-Force has the section and solution capability to meet your needs.
