A Value Engineering Proposal (VEP) utilizing precast/prestressed I Girders, provided substantial savings to the contractor over the bid design using steel girders. This economic design utilizing precast/prestressed, post-tensioned I Girders (3 span continuous), used only three lines of girders for a two lane bridge. The 40m long one piece girders were shipped by barge to avoid transportation restrictions. A steel launch truss was used as an alternative to hoisting directly from the creek bed.
