The project was designed and tendered in both steel and precast concrete. The precast solution offered significant savings over steel. The maximum precast span of 70m was achieved by balancing 20m segments on two piers with a 50m drop in segment. Post-tensioning was used to join the segments and to provide longitudinal continuity. The large, 50m long segments, were shipped by barge and installed with a barge mounted crane.
